DAV Public school, Sector-14, Gurgaon paid tribute to their dedicated and diligent teachers on the occasion of Teachers ’Day. The students of class XII took up the role of teachers for the day. The Chairman of the school, Shri. Prabodh Mahajan greeted the staff members and exhorted them to instil values in the young minds that would make them more sensitive towards their fellow-beings. The officiating Head of the school, Mrs.Aparna Erry, appreciated the teachers for their relentless efforts in achieving academic excellence and encouraged the teachers to keep abreast with the latest educational concepts and teaching practices in imparting quality education. The Founder Principal, Mrs. Anita Makkar graced the occasion and complimented the staff for their devotion towards their profession. This was followed by a fun-filled extravaganza of dance, games and music.

>DAV GURGAON WINS THE CRYPTIC CROSSWORD CONTEST

To revive interest in the almost forgotten skill of solving crossword puzzles, CBSE has initiated a national level Cryptic Crossword Contest . The city rounds for the same are being organised across the country during the month of September.The Gurgaon city round was organised at KR Mangalam School World School,South City I ON 17 September 2014.DAV Public School Sector 14, Gurgaon won the City Round in a close contest with the host team. The DAV Public School was represented by Lisha Bansal of XI G and Aarushi Sahu of XI H. They will now participate in the nationals to be held in December 2014

>DAV, GURGAON FLAG SOARS HIGH-Unified Cricket World Cup which was played from 28 May to 3 June 2014, at Dhaka, saw three students from DAV, sector-14, Gurgaon rising to fame. Three countries India, Bangladesh and SriLanka participated in the tournament and the Indian team emerged as winners.

>To encourage imagination and conviction and to voice their opinion on social issues, the students of classes IX and X of DAV Public School Sector 14, Gurgaon participated in the inter-house Vox Populi held in the auditorium .The event was a part of the yearly activity under the British Council Project. The topic of Vox Populi was ‘Racism’: Dividing People into “Us “and “Them” .The young students displayed tremendous energy and enthusiasm, bringing to life racial issues of India by playing the lives and characters from daily lives. Applauding the remarkable performances by the participants, the judges expressed their appreciation for the hard work put in by the children and the school staff for the overall success of the show. The judgment was done on the basis of dialogue delivery, props used, pronunciation, use of the stage space, expression and confidence of the participants. There was a right mix of emotions, research and conviction. The choice of songs to further explain their views was apt. Stage shows and theatre comprise the most powerful medium of communication available and the students utilised the opportunity to the fullest and were truly deserving of all the applause and appreciation.
>DAV HOSTS MINDQUEST-2014-An Interschool GK Quiz contest was conducted in the prestigious DAV Public School, Sector-14, Gurgaon. 26 renowned schools from Delhi and NCR participated in the preliminary round. 12 schools qualified for the second round and competed to reach the Finals. 6 schools vis–a -viz DPS R.K. Puram, Modern School , Vasant Vihar, Modern School, Barakhamba Road , Lotus Valley School, Tagore International and DAV Public School, Sector-14, Gurgaon fought for the coveted trophy. The participating teams went through a range of questions based on audio visual inputs on numerous subjects such as history ,art and architecture , scientific facts, Retro music et al. DPS R.K.Puram won the mindquest-2014 challenge.
>INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBERATIONS AT DAV, GURGAON-The Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour at DAV Public School, sector-14, Gurgaon. The celebrations began with the unfurling if the Tricolour by the officiating Head of the school, Mrs. Aparna Erry and her inspirational words to the students. She advised the young brigade to do their bit in their respective arenas. She urged the students to uphold the values of honesty and righteousness.
Namya Khandelwal and Sanket Sharma of the Kindergarten block of the school reminded everyone of the sacrifices of our revolutionaries. Ravi of class X highlighted the achievements of India in its post- independence period. In a poem Aditaa Gandhi of class XII glorified India for its rich tradition, heritage and diverse culture. A group song by students from classes IX-XI titled ‘Attulya Bharat ‘ rekindled the spirit of responsibility towards free India. A medley of songs by Satyam of class V exalted the patriotic love and spirit on the occasion. A group dance in Odissi style enthralled the audience with its synchronised movements and vibrant Tricolour costumes.
The Headboy, Yash Jayaswal, the Headgirl, Shiman Vashisht, Vice- Headboy, Anmol Mittal, Vice- Headgirl, Oorvi Mehta infused the audience with a new zeal to cherish the joys of being an Indian. The celebrations concluded with the National Anthem.

>The solo song competition was held on 30 July 2014 for classes XI and XII. There were about 25 participants from various houses. Variety of renditions ranging from Indian classical to western pop enthralled the students. >Convergence 2014 was a two day event to be organised by the Air Force School, Subroto Park, New Delhi on 23 and 24 July 2014 to celebrate knowledge and World artistry.
The event was a blend of three different genres – debating, quizzing and creative writing. The theme of the event was: War, Conflict and the Peace initiatives of the 20th and the ongoing 21st Century.
The preliminary round was held on 23 July and it consisted of an extempore, a turncoat debate, a quiz and ‘Sculpt a poem’. 24th July witnessed the semi finals and the finals which consisted of a debate and a quiz conducted by the renowned quiz master Parnab Mukherjee.
The Final Round comprised of a debate by two members of the team followed by another round titled ‘Block and tackle’.
DAV Public School, Sector-14, Gurgaon students emerged as the winners of this two day event. Anmol Mittal(XIIJ),Yash Jaiswal(XIIG), and Shiman Vashishth(XIIC) bagged the overall trophy for the two day event and were also declared the best quizzing team.
>C.B.S.E. Regional Level Science Exhibition 2014
Our students Shikhar Yadav and Aakanksha Luhach of XII standard participated in the C.B.S.E. Regional Level Science Exhibition 201 held at D.A.V. Public School, Ballabhgarh from 10th July to 12th July 2014.The students had done in-depth research on stem cells at National Brain Research Center, Manesar, Haryana (N.B.R.C). in which they had successfully revived embryonic stem cells to neurons. Their presentation on their research done on stem cells got them selected to represent the Panchkula region at the National Science Exhibition under the theme Health.
>Shivani Kataria of XI Std has done the school extremely proud by winning laurels and accolades at the National and International level.
In May at the Dubai International Meet she bagged the Second Position in 100m Freestyle and Third Position in 50m Freestyle.
In the Porto International Meet in Portugal on 7 June she won the Second Position in 100m Freestyle and Third Position in 50m Freestyle.
In the Junior National Swimming Meet she bagged 5 golds and set 4 new meet records. She was also declared the BEST SWIMMER at the meet.
In June she attended the Asian Games Camp.The School is extremely proud of her glorious achievements and wishes her wondrous success in the future.

>Tearing and pasting competition was held on 11 .07.14 .Children pasted very small pieces of origami sheets in the given umbrella. They used oil pastels to color the background .Children showed their originality and creativity through different color schemes .
Radhika Yadav (Shakti House) of I F scored First position, Arpita Kaushik (Preeti House) of I Ci got second position , Third position is scored by Jahanvi (Jagriti House)of I Bi and Encouragement was given to Aadya (Kirti House) of I Bi.

>SHOW and TELL competition was held on 21 .07.14 ,theme was healthy food .Children showed healthy food items which varied from coconut water to nuts and from buttermilk to sprouts and spoke few lines about the food items. Following students scored positions.
Nirbheek Bedi (Niti House) of I B i scored First position, Aadya Makkar (Kirti House) of I B i and Samridhi Bhartiya(Jyoti house) of I A i shared second position , Third position is scored by Arpita Kaushik(Preeti House) of I C i and Encouragement is given to Nandini Mathur (Niti House) of I D.

>Air Force School, Subrotto Park, New Delhi organized an event “AVISHKAAR” on 3rd May 2014. Our school students participated in various competitions. Pratyush Maini and Amol Shriwatri of class XI won First Prize in “INNOVATIVE INVESTIGATIONS”.Navneet Kaur and Aakriti Malhotra of class XII won Second Prize in symposium for the topic ” DESIGNER BABIES”.

>The tiny tots of Kindergarten presented theme on ‘Transport’ and ‘Plants’ on 18/10/2014. Models of different Means of Transport and Plants like herbs, shrubs and climber/creepers were displayed.

Children of Kindergarten enacted in “Ramayana” play on 29/09/14. Our mythological culture and values were inculcated through this play. The children depicted the great story of “Ramayana” through a spectacular dance drama. It is a classic tale of the victory of the good over evil.

>Independence Day was celebrated on 13th August 2014. The children of Kindergarten wholeheartedly took part in various speeches, group songs, poems and dance.

>Children of UKG and LKG took part in Hindi recitation competition on 31/07/2014 and 01/08/2014 respectively. Through this activity, children gained confidence in speaking with proper voice modulation and expressions. It also helped them to develop their language skills.

Rangoli competition was held on 20 October 2014 for the classes III-IV and V-VI. Students took part with the festive spirit and great joy.

>Inter House Solo Song Competition for classes V and VI was held on 23rd August 2014. Devansh Giri VIA Jyoti House won first prize. Second prize was bagged by Pranshu Mathur of VB Jyoti House, Prisha Wadhwa of VIB Neeti House stood at third position. Riya VIB Neeti House and Jayesh VB Jyoti House received encouragement.

>Inter House Solo Song Competition for classes III and IV was held on 26th August 2014. The competition was a reflection of power house of potential and talent hidden in every student. Meenal IIID Neeti House won first prize. Harit IIIAi Shakti House received second prize, Sneha Jain IVC Shakti House stood at third position. Charu Ranjan IVC Preeti House and Prabhleen Kaur IVB Neeti House received consolation.

>Achievers in a true spirit An Inter school competition was held in Amity International School, Gurgaon on 28th September. In Chorus rhyming event participants prepared a poem on “Celebration of Childhood”. They were judged on the parameters of eight multiple intelligences. Every one startled with their content, fluency, spontaneity and expressions. They stole the show unanimously. Manya Sharma and Sia Saini of class I Ai, Daisy Kumar of class I Bi, Prajakta Burman of class I C won first prize.

>Inter House Solo Song Competition for classes I and II was held on 29th August 2014. Students were given a chance to express their melodious voice through beautiful tunes. Rohit P. (IIAi) from Preeti House won first prize. Second prize was bagged by Suhani of IID Shakti House, Stuti of IC Jyoti House and Ameeshi IIAi Neeti House shared third position. Heeral IIBi Shakti House and Parikshit IBi Neeti House received encouragement.

>To celebrate Diwali, a card making competition was held on 20th October 2014 for the classes of I and II. Students exhibited amalgamation of creative, imaginary skills and their diligence. Vamika Dhal IIC Jyoti House won first prize, Leish Juneja IIBi Shakti House stood at second and third prize was bagged by Vidhi Bansal IC preeti House. Bhumi Singhal IIC Neeti House and Palak Yadav IIAi Neeti House received consolation.

>Finger printing competition for kindergarten was held on 30th October 2014. Students had a lot of fun during the Competition as they dipped their fingers in paint to showcase their talents on paper. In LKG Anshika and Akshiti of LKGA won first prize, Diya LKGA and Abhipsa Mohapatra LKGB shared second position, Shrishti Kamboj LKGB and Ishita Yadav LKGC stood at third position, Aarav Ahlawat LKGC received consolation. In UKG Heba Fathima Zaman UKGC stood at first position, Shreeparna Swaroop UKGC and Yuvraj Gunwal UKGB received second prize, third prize was bagged by Veronica Bhat UKGA. Encouragement was shared by Shourya Yadav and Pushti Goel UKGA.

>India’s 68th Independence Day was celebrated in the school premises on 15th August 2014 with great fervor. A cultural program was organized by the school students celebrating the greatness of our Motherland. Children took part with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm in various cultural activities like orchestra, songs and dances celebrating the joy of the day.

English Handwriting Competition was held on 13/05/2014 for Classes I & II. Students participated enthusiastically. Mahek of I C won the First Prize, Aarushi of II A(i) bagged II prize and Manit of II D stood at third position.
>Special Wing Coaches training Camp for Bocce and Badminton in May 2014 was organized in school’s campus.

> The Colouring Competition was held for the Kindergarten on the 8th May 2014. The children displayed their imagination and colouring skills. In LKG Naman Jain of LKG A and Yashit Yadav of LKG B won first prize. Second prize was shared by Akshiti of LKG A and Abhipsa Mohapatra of LKG B. Third prize was bagged by Atharv Nassa of LKG C and Kusha Khullar of LKG C. In UKG Pushti Goel of UKG A and Siddhi Mangla of UKG B won first prize. Second prize was shared by Naman Belwal of UKG A and Shreeparna Swaroop of UKG C. Third prize was bagged by Shambhvi Chandna of UKG B and Heba Fathima Zaman of UKG C.

>Special Wing Cycling Training Camp for Athletes was held in June 2014 in school’s campus.

>To showcase the talents such as public speaking, thinking on the spot and effective communication, the extempore competition was held on 23rd July 2014 for classes V and VI. Saachi Dudeja VIA from jyoti House won the first prize and Devansh Giri VIA from jyoti House bagged second prize. Tanishi Yadav VB from Preeti House stood at third position and Rebha Khurana VIA from Neeti House received consolation prize.

>Inter House Card Making Competition’ was held on 25th July 2014 for classes III and IV. The topic was “Free India”. Students brought all the accessories required for card from home. Children expressed their imagination by drawing, cutting, pasting and decorating the cards using different materials. From Preeti House Anubhav Rawat IVC bagged first prize, Aarshiya Bajaj IV C second and third prize was won by Savera IVB.

> To augment the artistic skills of the students an Inter-House Poster Making Competition for classes V and VI was held on 25th July 2014. Rebha Khurana VIA from Neeti House won the first prize. Ojaswin Saxena VIB from jyoti House bagged second prize. Vritika Chawla VB from Jyoti House stood at third position.

>A story telling inter house competition was organized for the classes III and IV on 28th July 2014 at the school campus in order to encourage the children to narrate stories. All the Participants tried their best to impress the audience by narrating their stories enthusiastically. Vibhav Kumar from jyoti House won first prize and Disha Grover from Shakti House bagged second prize. Tanishq Jaiswal from Jyoti House , Tammana from Preeti house managed to stand at third position and Ishika Kumar form Preeti House, Prabhleen Kaur from Neeti House received consolation prize.

> Show and Tell Competition was held 28th July 2014. The topic given to the students was ‘ Food Items’. It was a very enlightening programme and all the students put forwarded their ideas. Vrinda IAi and Daizy IBi from jyoti House won the first prize and Yash Yadav II D from Shakti House and Ameeshi Bhatnagar II Ai from Neeti House bagged second prize. Krrish K Mutreja from Preeti House , Daksh Jhangra I Ai from Preeti house, Aarushi Singh II Ai from Neeti House managed to stand at third position and Siya IAi form Preeti House, Himakshi Chauhan II Ai from Shakti House received consolation prize.
>An Inter House Hindi Recitation Competition was organized for Kindergarten on 31st July 2014. Students showcased their articulation and communication skills effortlessly. In Lower KG first prize was shared by Atharv Nassa(LKG C) , Anshika(LKG A) and Daksh Gupta(LKG C), Second prize was bagged by Akshiti(LKG A), Abhipsa Mohapatra ( LKG B). Prakhar(LKG A), Diya(LKG A) and Tashveen(LKG C) shared third prize. Naman(LKG A) and Parth Dagar(LKG C) received Encouragement.
